Using your dehumidifier

Pulls water out of the air so wet floors, walls and furniture can dry.

Set it up

  1. Put it in the middle of the wet area, on a flat, dry spot. Keep it upright; never lay it on its side.
  2. Drain it. Run the drain hose to a floor drain, sink, tub or outside, always downhill with no kinks. No drain nearby? Ask us about a pump, or empty the bucket when it fills.
  3. Plug it straight into a grounded outlet. No light extension cords: if you must, use a heavy-duty (12 gauge) cord.
  4. Turn it on to continuous or the driest setting.

While it runs

  • Close the doors and windows in the room. The dehumidifier dries the air in the room; open windows let wet outside air back in.
  • Keep the room warm: 70 to 90 degrees is ideal. Cold rooms dry slowly.
  • Run it day and night. Don't turn it off overnight.
  • Check the drain hose each day: water should be coming out.

Running with air movers

The air movers push the water out of the carpet and walls into the air; the dehumidifier pulls it out of the air. You need both working together.

When you're done

See Is it dry yet?. Before you bring it back, empty any water, coil the drain hose, and wipe off dust and mud.
