Using your carpet extractor

Pulls standing water out of carpet and pad before you start drying.

First, stay safe

Turn off power to the area if outlets or cords are near standing water. Wear boots.

Extract

Empty the tank and check the drain valve is closed.
Work in slow, overlapping passes, pulling the wand toward you. Slow passes pull out far more water than fast ones.
Go over the whole wet area twice, the second time crosswise to the first.
Empty the tank before it's full, into a toilet, tub or floor drain.

After extracting

Lift a corner of the carpet. If the pad underneath is still soaked, pull the pad out: carpet dries in days, pad rarely does. Then set up your air movers and dehumidifier.

Returning it

Rinse and empty the tank, and wipe down the wand and hose.
