How long to keep it, how it works, and how to tell it's dry.
How long should I keep the equipment?
Most rooms take about 3 days. Hardwood floors, soaked walls and basements often take 4 to 5. It feels dry to the touch long before the water inside the carpet pad, the drywall and the subfloor is gone, and that hidden water is what grows mold. Not sure? Book 3 days; you can extend from your phone.
How does it work?
- Book online or at the counter and pay. You get a rental link with your pickup pass.
- Pick up at your time: show the pass, we scan it, and your equipment is ready.
- Set it up using the guide for what you rented (it's on your rental page).
- We text you on day 2 and 3 to ask how it's drying, and tell you if you're on track.
- Bring it back by the due date, or extend from your phone if you need longer.
How will I know it's dry?
Feel it, don't look at it. The carpet, the bottom of the walls and the subfloor should feel the same as in a dry room of the house. Hardwood is done when the boards lie flat again. What if I don't want to keep it longer?
Just bring it back by the due date. Nothing extends on its own. Extra days are only added if you keep it past the due date.
How long before a dehumidifier pulls water?
It starts within the first hour: you'll see water in the bucket or coming out of the drain hose. How much it pulls depends on how wet the room is and how warm it is. A cool basement pulls less than a warm room, which is why the larger unit does better there. If nothing has come out after a couple of hours, check the hose isn't kinked and the room is closed up, then call us.
